Bangkok (mis)Adventure Day 1

'It is a good day to travel.'

Or so says Kerk, kicking off our trip with a nice little taboo. Inevitably, we promptly got hit by a thunderstorm, leading to a flight delay. (not to mention that in this trip, we'll end up running into an airport protest, being stranded in Bangkok THEN Phuket, and spending a fuckload of money trying to get home.)

All smiles despite the setback

The delay didn't last long though, and we touched down in Bangkok around 8pm local time. Also, Kerk managed to clear the customs smoothly for once. (what can a junkie bring into Bangkok that they don't already have?)

And with that, it was quickly to the hotel via Crazy Taxi. To ride on a busy road against the flow of traffic was a pretty new experience for me.

Crazy Taxi

And since it was too early to club, the first place we headed to was Central World which was just across our hotel to check out the beer galleries.

TRANSLATE!

Which was actually a lot like Europa which we used to frequent, except that it's probably about five times bigger, cheaper and busier. With hot beer promoters too (although technically, all I've ever seen is them standing around).

Kerk is stoned

Different city, same beer

And after a beer or five, it was time for the main event at RCA, which was a stretch of clubs, which differed slightly from the ones we have here in concept. There was no dance floor; patrons mostly stayed near their tables and did whatever from there. Apparently, according to Yuda (or was it Lester, but anyways, ah beng!) this is kinda like Dragonfly.

Everybody loves Foong

Oh, and we have our first casualty of the trip.

Red Label Owns You

To make matters worse, our cab driver got lost, so we alighted, and... we got lost too, adding Fallout 3 to the list of games we have or were gonna play in Thailand. After half an hour, we finally found our way back to the hotel, ending a short day 1.
